This book and "the Breach" were fun, a nice break from some of the more serious stuff I've been working my way through.

A beautiful and unique collection of art. Making ordinary people into artists. Communicating emotion through simple art forms. If anyone knows anything about art therapy, this book seemed to contain a lot of the concepts, without even trying to.

The title is somewhat sensational. This is the story of a Jewish woman during WWII who spent time in work camps, then was able to adopt a false identity with the help of a friend, and ended up married to a man who was then drafted into Nazi officer service late in the war (he knew about her real identity before they married). Still, as the story develops, it is a fascinating read. A&E aired a special documentary on this story which I watched a few years ago. The book goes into much more detail than the documentary did. More importantly, the author writes as though she is talking to you ("...you see, that is what the people were being told..."), so you really understand not just the facts, but the motivations of people's actions at the time. This is probably the best depiction I have read regarding how average non-Jewish people managed to look the other way and live with themselves during the Holocaust.

Lord of Scoundrels was #1 on the AAR poll, won awards, and is all-time favorite romance of many. Because of its good rep, I thought I'd love it as much as everyone else. Nope. Clearly something must be wrong with me since I can't seem to rave about this book. It's just a regular romance, nothing spectacular, in my opinion. I liked it, the banter and bickering was entertaining enough. However, most romances that I really enjoy I can finish in a day or so. This one took me a week and most of the time I just wanted to put it down and not even finish it. I think the one thing that stood out to me was the heroine (she's the reason I gave this 3 stars). I loved her. I usually find myself completely loving the hero but not this time. She was independent, charming, tough, gutsy (hello, she purposely shot the hero without even blinking a eye lol), witty, smart...I could go on and on.. Sometimes these type of heroines can be a bit annoying but LC did a great job with her, Jessica was one of the best written heroines I've ever come across.

Eh, bu kitabın kağıt kapaklı kitapta çıkması için altı ay bekledim (ciltli bir kitap için 35 € söz konusu değil). "Kızıl Ejder" ve Hannibal serisi uzun zamandır suçlu zevklerim oldu, ama bu o kadar da büyük değildi. WW2'den sonra sadece yazarın Euorope hakkındaki bilgisini (kendimi googledebileceğim hakkında bilgi) ve Rusya'daki Japon ve WW2 kültürüne ilişkin anlayışları takdir ettim. Bunun dışında, her zamanki gibi, yazı stili hakkında muhteşem bir şey yoktu ve hikaye banal ve öngörülebilirdi. Yine de hoşuma gitti. Ciltsiz beklemeye değer ve 9 € değerinde harcadım. ;)

4.0'ı başlatın. Orta 2.0. Daha sonra 3'ten 3.75'e çıktı. Çok iyi başladı sonra yarıya kaybetti sonra tekrar aldı. Dantes Inferno almak sevdim ama 'ustaları' alamadım. Onlar benim için çok üstündeydi. Ah evet son ekledi!

Bu kitabı beğendim, çünkü Arnold ile bağlantı kurabiliyordum ve kitap boyunca onu hissedebiliyordum. Ayrıca kitabın dergi formatında nasıl yazıldığını ve resimleri olduğunu da çok sevdim.
