More love and adventure in the Sherwood family.
Aptly titled, Still Life is about woman in a coma, the victim of a hit/run accident. Three weeks after the accident she starts to wake-up "internally" only - she can hear everything although it is not apparent to anyone that she can. She cannot see or move, and she has to sort through her muddled mind as to what happened to her, what is real, and what might be dreams or drugs, but it doesn't take her long to figure out by what she hears that someone she trusted tried to kill her and is intent on finishing the job. A gripping page turner.
good first ghetto book to start with
Did not like this one as well.... got too dark, and there were fewer likable characters. I did not particularly want to know about the towns sex club.... and it felt like Harris was trying to pack too much into this book. Luckily, I'd already gotten the 3rd in the series, or I might have been done. Club Dead was better and more like the first book.
Have read it in parts. Not for the un-charasmatic.
Best book that I have read in quite a while. From her early days working front of the house to cooking for her Italian mother-in-law, Gabrielle Hamilton weaves a fascinating tale of growing up in the food service industry. This book definitely deserves the rave reviews. I am going to go right out and find some of her articles for the NYTimes.
i wanted to read this book before i saw the movie. i liked it, it was interesting that a man wrote this book though. not that i'm "profilin". the ending was little of a let down for me, but eh. overall. it was a fun read.
