it's 800 pages (and it's only volume 1) and if my to-read pile wasn't growing, I would continue to read this...the intimacy of the letters is fascinating.
this book was amazing--really creepy, but quite incredible. it is a true story about a young man who contacted serial killers, posing as their "ideal" victim. He got them writing back to him, and began faux intimate relationships that he thought he had under control--until he got sucked in way further than he could handle. Really amazing! I couldnt put it down.
I listened to the recorded version of this book, which tells the story of a diverse group of people whose lives somehow connect, whether they know it or not, on the very day a tightrope walker crosses the air between Manhattan's Twin Towers. They include two brothers from Ireland, a couple of prostitutes, a group of women who have each lost a son in the Vietnam War, the tightrope walker and more. Each character's section was read by a different narrator. I liked some better than others, and I connected with some characters more than with others, but the story held my attention and let me into the lives of people I would never get to meet in real life.
